I believe that the grass can always be greener on the other side.
When I was little, my grandmother died from lung cancer. My grandfather was depressed and lonely after his wife was taken from him, my father got angrier than he ever was before and it really impacted the family pretty bad. But because the grass can always be greener on the other side, he ended up remarrying my mother’s best friend. Actually they were happier together, she was a single mother of four teenage boys; they united two families and gave me some amazing uncles.
I now have four little cousins, Elayna, Marissa, Lilliana, and Joseph Van Ormer. Marissa was the first of the four to be born and to prove the grass can always be greener, her story its self is pretty amazing. My uncle cheated on his girlfriend with Marissa’s mother, but from that break up, Marissa’s parents got married and they had her little sister Lilliana. Both little girls help keep my grandfather as happy as can be. So in a way, because my grandmother died, my grandfather got grandchildren who light up his day and bring out the best in him.
My grandfather puts his carpentry skills to good use; he makes Elayna, Marissa, and Lilly everything, from adult size princess beds to baby doll beds. They actually give him things to do in his free time. He teaches them to swim in his pool and absolutely loves having them around. He even drives all the way up to Maine in order to see Elayna, and it wouldn’t be very shocking if he ends up building a big elaborate little boy’s room for our newest addition Joseph.
Marissa and Lilly really prove that from every dark, evil place, beautiful things can be born. It’s always darkest before the light finally shines through. From a cheating boyfriend, came a husband, wife, and two beautiful little girls. At the same time, they also brought out my grandfather’s better half. Since they were born, he stopped drinking and I really do think that the grass is always greener on the other side.
