On June 14, 1954 the Pledge of Allegiance was again modified to remind us of our loyalty to our nation and the American ideal. It includes “One Nation Under God”.

Government and citizens continue to state “separation of church and state”. Citizens want the Pledge of Allegiance to be rewritten taking out “One nation Under God”. Citizens do not allow discussion of Christianity in public schools. Christians are forced to walk on their tiptoes in public so that they are not offending anyone with their crazy beliefs. People believe crazy radical Christians only want to smother and condemn people to their beliefs.
Although many Christians do share their faith, they tend to have respect for any opposing beliefs. Everyone is so concerned with having separation of Christianity with secular life, but they forget about all of the other controversial issues going on that Christians are forced to face.

An Oceanographic Institution fired a Christian scientist because he did not believe in Evolution. – Evolution has been a growing idea that has even spread into science text books. However, it has not been completely proven, and is still known as a theory. When asked about Evolution, many people will say “Oh yes, I believe in Evolution!” When asked about Christianity, many other people will say “Oh yes, I believe in Jesus as my Lord!” The Government continues to remind Christians about separation of religion, yet scientists are firing Christians who do not believe in Evolution. In school, Christian students are not allowed to preach to a class about Christianity yet they are forced to listen to their teacher rant about Darwin’s theory how humans evolved from monkeys.

What happened? Christianity was actually like a founding father of America in many ways. It appears in our Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and the Pledge of Allegiance. However, America is still about freedom of opinion, which makes sense because not everyone wants to be forced to believe in something they don’t believe. That is one of the great ethics that draws people to America. Conversely, now a days when it comes to religion, we are not able to have the freedom of choice anymore. Christianity is not even allowed to be spoken about in certain settings or the person could be potentially fired, yet Evolution is being launched into text books as if it has been already proven.
America is known for her freedoms of opinion. Lately, though I believe it has been diminishing into a world where we are forced to conform to the norm around us. I believe that America has forgotten our Christian heritage and the ethics that made our nation so great. What is happening America?
