I Believe in Destiny and Reason Destiny: “a predetermined course of events often held to be an irresistible power or agency” (Merriam Webster Dictionary). My life has been a series of complicated events. I have experienced pain and loss but in their place have grown love and new opportunities. I can’t explain why those things happened, they just did. As a young child I was always curious. I always had to know the answers and I had a mind for learning new things. Whenever I did not know the answer, I would ask. As I grew, the answers became harder to find. My life became a series of uncharted events, or so I thought. Whenever something good or bad happened to me that was just so unbelievable I would ask why? My mother would always say “it was meant to be.” I always thought this answer was so silly. One time when I was seven years old, my mom and I were on our way home from a store and our tire went flat. We were on a highway, and my mom’s cell phone had died. As if the situation could not have gotten worse, it began to pour. So for about a half an hour we stood on the side of the road, soaking wet and out of luck. Then a young man came to our aid. He got out of his car and helped us put the spare tire on. My mom called him our little angel. Then, she said “It happened for a reason. “ I didn’t believe her words until we got in the car and turned on the radio. Not a half a mile from us there had been a truck accident exactly forty minutes ago. If my mom and I hadn’t broken down on the side of that road, I might not be here writing this story today. There have been so many other unexplainable moments in my life and now I know that they were all due to destiny. It has been said by many people that everything is “written”.This means that destiny is a sure thing. It is human nature to want to know all of the answers but sometimes we just have to believe. I believe in Destiny because I know it is the path that is leading me through my life. Destiny is like the yellow brick road in the Wizard of Oz. Destiny is our yellow brick road to what lies ahead. Destiny also has some helpers and we all make our own decisions but in the end, destiny is the main factor to getting us to what lies ahead. We all determine our own futures but destiny knows what changes we will make to our steady path. I believe in destiny and I believe everything happened for a reason.
